How does the quote checker work?
Pick your vehicle and the job, enter the quote you were given, and it shows you a rough GTA price range for that repair and whether your number sits low, in range, or high. It's a sanity check, not a final number, the only honest price comes from seeing the car.
Why is the range so wide?
Because real repairs swing on parts brand, vehicle, and how bad it actually is. Two cars with the same symptom can need very different work. A wide honest range is more useful than a confident wrong number, anyone quoting an exact price sight-unseen is guessing. Want the full picture? Is a higher quote always a ripoff?
No. A quote above the range can be totally fair. OEM parts, a luxury or European car, or extra damage found on inspection all push it up legitimately. The point isn't to fight the shop, it's to understand what you're paying for and whether it adds up.
Can I get a real second opinion?
Yes, it's a real product with a published price. What if he agrees with the shop?
Then he says so, in writing, and that's the answer you paid for, not a wasted visit. Knowing a $3,500 quote is the actual job is worth the same as finding out it isn't: you authorise the work and stop second-guessing it. A second opinion that can only ever find a scandal isn't a second opinion.

Will Fares do the repair himself?
Depends on the job, and he'll tell you before you pay for anything. Brakes, suspension, cooling, no-starts, axles, tune-ups and most leaks get done in your driveway. Timing chains, timing belts, clutches, head gaskets and internal engine work he turns down, they need a lift, a press and a full shop day, and doing them badly at the curb helps nobody. On those he'll still confirm the diagnosis so you're not authorising a four-figure job on someone else's guess.
