If you are in a City Centre condo, most towers do not love wrench work in the garage, so the usual play is a family driveway, a friend's place nearby, or your work parking lot with permission. The cutoff watches your battery and shuts the camera down long before starting is at risk, which is the entire reason hardwiring beats the cigarette-lighter cable. The drain stories come from cheap direct-wired installs with no cutoff, which is the version I refuse to do.
