Alderwood was one of Etobicoke's first postwar planned neighbourhoods, and it shows in the best way: bungalows and storey-and-a-half homes on generous lots, nearly all with private drives. For a mobile mechanic, that's the ideal setup. I pull into your driveway off Brown's Line or Horner, get the car in the air, and do the work right there, brakes, suspension, water pumps, batteries. No drop-off, no shuttle, no losing the car for two days over a half-day job.
The location works in your favour too. Alderwood is tucked between the QEW, Etobicoke Creek, and Lake Shore, with the 427 junction right there, quick for me to reach from Mississauga, and honestly a pain for you to leave when the alternative is crawling through that interchange to sit in a shop waiting room. The Brown's Line plazas cover your coffee; I cover the car. You stay in your own house while the repair happens outside the window.
Wide postwar lots with private drives. Most of Alderwood went up in the 1950s on 40-plus-foot lots, and nearly every house has a real driveway. That's room to lift the car, lay out tools, and do a full brake or suspension job properly, the whole reason mobile service works so well here.
Boxed in by highways, easy for me, annoying for you. The QEW and 427 meet right beside the neighbourhood. For me that's a fast, direct run from Mississauga. For you it's the traffic you'd have to fight just to reach a shop, which is exactly why you shouldn't have to.

For me that means room to get both ends of the car up safely, lay tools out on mats, and do a full four-corner brake job or a strut pair properly instead of working in a squeeze. No permit hassle, no roadway rules to worry about, no concierge. I pull in and start. It's the closest thing to having a bay at your house.
QEW spray and creek-valley damp. Being wedged between the QEW, the 427 junction and the Etobicoke Creek valley means two things for your undercarriage: highway salt spray all winter, and a damp valley microclimate that keeps it working. The pattern I see is rusted rear brake hardware, scaled-up subframe bolts, and exhaust that gives out at the hangers before the pipe. Older second cars that mostly sit take it worst, because nothing ever dries out.
Family SUVs plus the car that mostly sits. Typical Alderwood driveway has a daily-driver SUV or crossover and an older second car that does groceries and Sherway runs.
